The pool area was good and our room had an outdoor area with sunlounges which made the room very spacious.

The restaurants were very expensive, as well as the room and the tours. Sails in the Desert seems to be part of a chain so the choices are limited. Also many of the tours were pricey as well as many were booked out. We should have been notified at the time of booking that this could happen and we would have booked ahead.

The room was comfortable and the staff were helpful and friendly.

For a five star hotel the rooms are beginning to look a "little tired" and could do with a spruce up.

Location. Sounds of Silence dinnerwas outstanding.

Resort appears tired and run down.

        it was unique. pictures beautiful

Very close to Uluru and Kata Tjuta. Beautiful gardens and swimming pool area. The gallery was also very well looked after, interesting and offered quality products.

Rooms do not live up to the price. They are "sterile" looking and very dull, although spacious. All the facilities are outrageously priced.

      • Older travelers
        7.8

Spacious rooms, beautiful landscaped grounds, touch of old-style elegance.

Our first night was disturbed by mice coming in to the room - we trapped three in a shopping bag (separately) and put them out. Found gaps in the cupboard under the fridge where they were getting in. Complained to reception next morning - they laid a trap and monitored it during the day - caught one. We stopped up the gap with towels for the next night and weren't troubled.

      • Family with children
        3.8

Large rooms. Beautiful swimming pool (but too cold for us to use the facility).

Rooms are very far from the different parking. They wanted to charge us for drinks we did not have and it took nearly 15 minutes to admit their mistake. We also stayed at the Pioneer Hotel, and we regret we did not stay longer there (Sails in the desert is definitely not worth the extra $).

The holiday at Uluru was great. We loved the Rock and Kata Juta and that made the stay very pleasant. The hotel is friendly and clean and all it needs to be. It's a shame there isn't a mid-priced restaurant. I accept that the hotel is remote but I thought paying $48 per main course in the restaurant was expensive, given the quality of the food was only fair. Didn't expect great food so, no big deal.

Not much. I did have a blue with Viator when I booked sos via their site. I corresponded with the hotal about it so won't go through it again but if I were you guys I would tell them to either stop trapping the unwary into subscribing to their database and require them to desist from demanding full personal details (name, address, phone no. Etc) + credit card details for a simple dinner reservation. This is exactly how identity theft is facilitated. You don't care - all you need is name, contact no and payment, the rest is entirely for Viator's benefit. Plus their system sucks - 6 emails - just for dinner!!!!!

The room was spacious and clean, with good amenities. The staff were very friendly and helpful, although one could use a little haste in preparing the bill for check out. (The bus almost left us) Although a bit pricey, it offers good rest after a day of walking and viewing Uluru & the Olgas.

        Ayers Rock.

The hotel is incorrect to have a 5 star rating. I would suggest they are a 3.5-4 star rating. The room was clean but probably needs a pest spray as there were bugs on our pillows the first night. By 4pm one day they still hadn't cleaned our room. The resort is old and was probably luxurious in the 1980's, but needs a serious renovation. As a whole, the resort has to improve on customer service, but that was all staff at the entire Ayers Rock Resort, not just limited to this hotel.

The meals we had at the restaurants there were beautiful. Our room was comfortable but overpriced I feel. We paid $450 per night for a double room with no food included which for the price should have been luxurious really. The surroundings were unreal though & the rooms were quiet, which we really liked.

As mentioned above, I feel the rooms were overpriced for their standard but otherwise all ok!

      • Older travelers

The proximity to Uluru was great and the Sounds of Silence dinner was lovely

For a 5* hotel I felt it was tired and run down more of a 4* experience, they have a captive market and it felt there was no effort going into making it a great experience

      • Older travelers
        7.4

The sparkling wine in our room on arrival was lovely for our 25th wedding anniversary! The Tours we pre organised were fantastic! The locations they took us were great, Tea & Coffee, bickies & nibbles were very ordinary. I would have liked more time to spend in the Cultural Centre to look around & shop instead of being rushed.

I would have liked a sofa in the room instesd of two Queen Beds. Also there was a big ant problem around the tea, coffee making area. Bubble bath would have been lovely to help soak away the tired muscles after a day out on tour. Only one down light was working in the bathroom. Price we paid was too much for a standard room.

        Comfortable beds.

Bugs on the grounds but can't help that due to location.
